Jackson Hewitt Tax Service — Establishment, finance and accounting at 922 Main Street, East Hartford, Connecticut.

This was the worst tax experience ever. The staff was not courteous, the facility was filthy, customers were viewed as annoyances and the process was never explained. When I got to the end of my session (which took over an hour and had associates switching on and off my return entry) I was told that they did not accept credit cards or debit cards. I did not have the fee on me. They offered to hold my return. My confidence level was not high in the accuracy of my return so I had them done elsewhere (paying twice as much) and I found out that if I had filed with them, I would have paid over $900 too much in taxes. When I went back to get my copied paperwork (that they copied to file with my return) they refused to give it to me telling me that it would be shredded at year end. I was not allowed to take my paperwork back because it "had been entered into the system." Even when I told them that I would not have them file for me, they refused to put my paperwork in their shredder in front of me. I have no confidence in them at all. I can only hope that my identity is not stolen.
